PewDiePie is trending lately as he announced that he will delete his YouTube channel after he reaches the mark of 50 million subscribers. But he is well past that mark and the news is that the most popular channel on YouTube is still up and visible.

The Swedish YouTuber – ‘Felix Kjellberg’ (real name) mentioned that he will start from scratch once he gets the mentioned number of subscribers. And why all of a sudden he decides to delete his channel? The reason behind this decision is clearly based on the changes that YouTube is making, showing fake clickbaity videos to users instead of the authentic channels they’re actually a subscriber of. How about changing the algorithm, YouTube?

Everybody knows that PewDiePie is not just any “YouTuber”, he is a big shot for the platform and produces premium content for its YouTube Red service, keeping the users engaged.

A week back, PewDiePie said he will delete his channel and start again. Take a look!

“YouTube is trying to kill my channel. It is clear. It is happening if you watch my analytics. It is all going down” said the YouTuber. He has accused YouTube of promoting “videos that have nothing to do with personality, has nothing to do with content, just has a really great title and a really great thumbnail”. However, he managed to make almost $15 million from the Google-owned platform last year. I mean who wants to ban that kind of income source?

“All I want is that the people that subscribe to me watch my videos”.

The online celebrity was quite disappointed with the fact that the count of his subscriber is much higher than the number of people actually watching his videos.

Is it a PR stunt or just a prank?

Active fans spreading the news all over their social media certainly boosted YouTube star’s reach and the amount of attention he got from all this qualifies to be a successful PR stunt. But he is already a visible and successful star on the platform so what’s the need to take such actions? It might all be a prank to tease the fans. We only can wait for his next move to find out what he is up to exactly? Stay tuned for more updates!

Update: PewDiePie deletes his (other) YouTube channel.

PewDiePie took some time to roast the media for covering his prank. We probably should have known better.
